Waiting for water balloons

Waiting for water balloons

We were waiting in the backyard for Daddy to come and play with a pile of waterballoons. I’m holding on to Tiffany’s hand to keep her safe while a car was being put away and I just started snapping. There were quite a few a liked but this is a favourite as I like the way the breeze has blown her hair across her face (I usually have her with hair neat and tidy). I feel the colours are a smidge flat and would want to edit it a little to liven it up a little. I would like a slightly larger sparkle in her eye too, not too much though because I quite like how the smallish sparkle matches the “I’m waiting and it isn’t a lot of fun” look on her face.

I'm a full time stay at home mum to a gorgeous three year old. In a previous life I was a primary school teacher, teaching at a private girls school in Sydney. I may do a little bit of casual teaching in the near future. I'm in my mid-30s (how did I get here so quickly??) and have been married to Adam for almost 12 years.

  1. Hi Michelle, very pleased to have you join us. And I’m really glad to be seeing more photos of the gorgeous Tiffany.
This is a lovely image and I’m not surprised that it is a favourite. I agree as little editing would make this pop. And just a tad of eye lightning would emphasis the sparkle in her eyes. Well done on the composition too. Having her slightly off centre (rule of thirds) and her eyes in the top third of the photo makes it much more interesting than if she was simply centred.

  2. Awwww, she’s beautiful. Even when she’s not having fun!

  3. This is a beautiful photo! I like how close cropped it is. Did you crop it down from a wider shot or take it this close?

    • Hi Siobhan,
Thanks so much. This is how close I took the photo. My daughter was literally within arms reach as I was holding her hand when I took the photo.
