My Garden

8 week online workshop
lesson 1
Back to Basics

Since I did some of the 21 day challenge, I choose to try and capture my garden with out all the fuss of whats around it, I wanted to capture just the beauty of the flowers on their own and the odd bee that was around

Stay at home Mum of 4 and full time carer of our eldest who has Lissencephaly. Live in rural area and away from friends and family so need some hobbies to keep me sane so photography is it at the moment...

  1. Nice Sharleen, you’ve really nailed the depth of field. I assume you’re using Aperture priority with a large aperture and it shows. With a shallow depth of field just watch where your focus falls. In the first image the pink flower looks like its a tiny bit out of focus and the buds in top left corner look like they are where the focus fell. More lessons on focus coming up soon. Nice work on capturing the bee in flight too, that’s not easy to do.

  2. All pics were taken on aperture mode, F5.6 ISO 200 pink flower was 1/200 sec, yellow flower 1/1600 rose 1/40 and bee 1/1000….Bee was frustrating but there was a few so I persisted and it paid off

  3. There’s something about flower photographs that is just so pretty! These are lovely. The depth of field is perfect, it really brings out the beauty of the individual flowers.
