getting to know you

hi and welcome to photo editing magic

Let’s get started with the getting to know you part of the course…

here’s how it works…

This is not an online course where I sign you up and leave you to it – sink or swim. It’s a supported challenge! I’m here with you all the way. I’m here to guide you, give you advice, feedback, support and answer your questions. I’ll hold your hand as much as you want, or need, your hand held.

working through the course

This course is designed to allow you to work through it at your own pace. However, to make sure you get a chance to practice each step before you move on to the next one, new lessons will be opened up to you each week. So if you’ve finished a lesson, mark it complete and move on. But if it’s not released yet, come back next week  and it’ll be there for you.  Use the time that you’re waiting for practice and to ask questionsa and get feedback.

find your course info

If you need to access your course or membership details at any time they can be found  here. Bookmarking the page is a good idea so you can come back to it when you need to.

update your profile

If you need to change your password or update your profile information you can do it here. We’d all love it if you’d add a photo and some details about you so we can get to know you a little bit better.

You are encouraged to send up to three images for each part of the course. I will commit to giving feedback and advice on at least one of these. Other members will be encouraged to comment and give feedback and you should do the same. The more participation and sharing the more everyone will grow and develop their skills.

my time

I will dedicate time each week to supporting you through this course. However, it may take me up to 48 hours to respond to your messages and requests. Be patient, I will be in touch as soon as I can.

General questions, comments and anything you want to share can be posted in the comments – “Leave a Reply” – below but keep in mind that these are not private and can be seen by anyone participating in the course. Posting and commenting below is a great way to interact with others in this course. If you have a question that you don’t want to share with the the group you can use the contact form on this site.

5 things you should know…

These are my tips for getting the most from this online course:

  1. Learning photography is never finished.Your skills will grow, improve and evolve with practice. Aim for daily practice and you’ll get daily improvement. You won’t get perfect the first time – but you will get started!
  2. There is no right way. There is only right for you, right now!
  3. If you feel uncertain ask more questions or ask for more support!
  4. Be kind and considerate to other members and they will be kind and considerate to you.
  5. Be generous with your praise and constructive criticism and others will be generous to you.

getting acquainted…

The following questions are designed to give me a snapshot of where you’re at and how you feel about your photography right now. If you have previously done a course with Please Don’t Say Cheese, fell free to skip this and go straight to your lesson topics.

  • this will be the title for your image post
  • here you can talk about the image you submit (what do you like and what don't you like about the image)

If you’ve finished this getting to know you session mark it complete. Then you can move on to the first topic.
