I love soft light (and just never realised it)

2 – soft light

I LOVE both these images. The picture of Louise was taken late this afternoon. I tried to get her to play around in the long grass so I could try to get some lens flare, and try out the lighting, but she wasn’t interested until I pointed out the ladybugs… This is her trying to see the ladybugs, and I am amazed that I took this picture 🙂

The picture of Clare was taken yesterday whilst we were in town doing our fortnightly grocery shop. We were at the playground and there was a full shade cloth over the top, and Daddy was playing peek-a-boo behind me, so we caught a rare smile!

  1. I’m glad you found your love for soft light. Once you find it, it’s always there. My family and friends are used to me obsessing about the light and dragging people around until it’s just right 🙂
I love the one of Louise. Backlighting and late afternoon soft light makes the perfect combination. And you’ve captured a perfect moment. I have no suggestions – I love it just the way it is. My suggestion with the photo of Clare is to crop in a little tighter. You are cutting her at the wrist and it would probably look better cropped mid way between the wrist and elbow.Other than that it’s also a really lovely image. What a gorgeous smile. It makes me smile too!

  2. Thanks for that Robyn – I just tried cropping the picture of Clare and it looks much better.

  3. Beautiful – I really love the one of Louise in particular, and it looks really good cropped in tight the way that it displays at the top of this page, too. Soft light and backlighting are AMAZING. I’m so obsessed now. They’ve always been the photos I’ve loved but not known how to take myself.
The sun on the long grass looks beautiful – you are very lucky to have so many beautiful backdrops 🙂
