Country girl at the beach

Country girl at the beach

This was taken when we were visiting my parents at Christmas. Louise didn’t like the sand, or waves, and hung back from the waters edge most of the time. She ventured up and I was able to catch this shot. I like the colours. Purposely set her to the left of the image to get more of the ocean.

Mum to 2 little girls. Live & work on a cattle station in Queensland. Have only been 'on the land' for the past 5 years - before that I was a Marketing Manger for a regional airline, then I met a grazier, fell in love, and moved away from it all :)

  1. Hi Sarah, welcome to the workshop. I’ve enjoyed seeing your “photo a day” and it’s lovely to get to experience your part of the world. Fingers crossed for you that you get that rain soon!
This is a lovely image. It’s composed really well (we’ll get to the rule of thirds composition shortly). And the red colour makes a nice contrast to the blue/grey of the ocean. Good job!

  2. Hi Sarah,
I love the photo of your sweet little girl creeping up to the water. I agree with Robyn that the red in her swimsuit is a great contrast against the ocean. It’s such a classic, timeless photo in a way that I wonder what it would look like in black and white?

  3. What a sweet photo. You’ve really captured the moment – you can see her curiosity wrestling with her timidness about it! And what a cute bathing suit 😉
