Rodd Point (again)

Rodd Point (again)

Moments That Matter: lesson 2: topic 1: exposure triangle Well, it’s been ages since we headed around to Rodd Point in this course and it’s been ages since I’ve posted! We headed around on our scooters and discovered a new water bubbler. Bubblers always intrigue little ones! I wanted to capture the water nicely from the bubbler and I think I achieved that. I’m not sure how ... »

Rainbow Spaghetti

Rainbow Spaghetti

Moments That Matter: lesson 1: topic 3: focus Finally re-did this lesson! I’d been hoping to redo her crazy head-shaking photos (posted on my blog) because that was so much fun, but she wasn’t keen. This afternoon I made some rainbow spaghetti for sensory play. Initially I was just capturing the moment, but then Tiffany started moving her arms around wildly and being quite active with ... »

Playing at the park

Playing at the park

8 week online workshop lesson 1 Focus We headed south for the weekend and had a wonderful time away. I looked out after dinner at the park and the light was gorgeous. It was on sunset/dusk and between the golden hues and the clearing sky after the afternoon storm, the whole area looked delightful. I started snapping and then remembered I’d read this lesson and could start shooting in differe... »

Cupcake treat

8 week online workshop lesson 2 More Camera Settings On our way home from ballet this afternoon I bought Tiffany a cupcake. She thought it was so beautiful and asked me to take a photo of it. By the time I picked up the camera she had it unwrapped and was starting to demolish it! She was so quick that I didn’t have time to adjust the camera settings – my white balance was set for outsi... »

Exploring Rodd Point

Exploring Rodd Point

8 week online workshop lesson 1 Know your camera My family has lived in this area for generations and going to Rodd Point and exploring the rock pools was one of my favourite things to do as a young child. Yesterday afternoon Tiffany and I jumped on our scooters and scooted around here for a play. I took my camera and two lenses. The main photo is taken with a 50mm lens, the others are taken with ... »

And the monkey sings…

And the monkey sings…

8 week online workshop – Getting to know you Outdoor craft. We are in a corner of our backyard. It was about 1:15pm and we were in the last pocket of shade. What I like about this photo: – the colours work well together: her apron is vibrant, matching the vibrant attitude she has in this shot, the green of her chair matches the green in the apron too.es – The catchlights in her e... »

Summer is Fish and Chips in the park

Summer is Fish and Chips in the park

Just had to share these! Perfect examples of how Robyn says the best way to improve your photography is through practice. Settings for main photo are ISO 100 f-stop – 4 Shutter – 1/200 I found the photos were slightly dark with the bright background and being in the shade. My initial instinct is to put on the flash but I decided to experiment. I overexposed them slightly by having the ... »

Snapshots with sun and sand

Snapshots with sun and sand

camera basics and understanding exposure lesson/module/challenge 1 These photos were taken with my compact camera, a Nikon Coolpix waterproof camera. We really just use it for snapshots. I found it more of a challenge to take photos with given I’ve been really challenging myself to take control of the camera and this camera seemed to have all the control. It was only when I was at the beach ... »

Waiting for water balloons

Waiting for water balloons

We were waiting in the backyard for Daddy to come and play with a pile of waterballoons. I’m holding on to Tiffany’s hand to keep her safe while a car was being put away and I just started snapping. There were quite a few a liked but this is a favourite as I like the way the breeze has blown her hair across her face (I usually have her with hair neat and tidy). I feel the colours are a... »
