Indoors and Low Light

I was asked to photograph this pretty little girl for her first birthday. This was taken indoors in front of a big window that lit up the room. The sun was on the opposite side of the house so it was not too bright. She was facing the window so you can see the catchlights in her eyes (yay me!). This is straight out of the camera so I need to edit it a bit. 50mm 1.8 lens f2.8 1/160 ISO 640

I am a mother of three boys. My oldest is 8 and my younger ones will be 6 and 4. We live in Tomball, Texas (US) which is a small city outside of Houston. Photographing my children has always been a passion of mine but I am ready to share my passion and take it to the next level!

  1. Yay for catchlights. Give yourself a pat on the back for that. The light is lovely and soft too – nicely diffused by the position of the sun. The image looks nice and clear – not at all noisy which is good. Obviously your camera handles the 640 ISO without a problem. If you look at the image at 100% and look in the dark areas (chair legs) there may be a little bit of noise but certainly not be enough to worry about. Nice colour considering it’s straight out of camera and yes a few tweaks in editing will really make this pop. Another nice image Samantha.

  2. This is gorgeous!
