Hi Robyn I have been practicing all of the lessons so far, and these are three of the best images that I have managed to edit. Not entirely happy with the beach shot – there was way too much sand and food on her face for me to effectively clean up! I am finding that I am mastering some of the effects quite well with a little more practice, and there are still a few functions (especially back... »

Black and White Conversion

Black and White Conversion

I had trouble with the other test images for this tutorial – I downloaded them okay but when I opened them in Photoshop, they seemed to be locked? I couldn’t do any editing on them – all of the menu options for adjustment layers etc were greyed out?? »

Splashing in the bath

Splashing in the bath

I’m pretty happy with this result! I think the eyes are a little *too* bright, but besides that I am happy that I was able to increase the whiteness of the background, remove some background distractions and make Ruby “pop” a bit more. »

Photo Editing: Things I Always Do lesson

Photo Editing: Things I Always Do lesson

This is uploaded for Melissa as the WordPress gremlins have been at work and form uploads were not working earlier. Fingers crossed it’s fixed now. Jack: This is my first photo-editing technique, and I think I did okay!  I removed some background distractions (a bright spot and a blanket in the bottom corner) but couldn’t figure out how to effectively do anything with the furniture beh... »

Jack, Ruby & April

Jack, Ruby & April

I have quite a few photos that are so/so and I would really love to learn how to make them great. I think with a little bit of editing a lot of my photos can be cleaned up and look fantastic. The main editing that my 6 images need are cleaning up of the backgrounds, fixing shadows on faces, airbrushing blemishes (food on face/bruises etc) and smoothing of backdrops etc. Thank you! »

photo editing magic – Getting to know you This one of my favourite photos – I know that it is far from perfect, and I have a lot of photos that are better quality, but I do love this shot. I would love to be able to remove some of the background noise and do something about the shadows over her face. Not sure what is possible really, but hoping there is something that can be done to ma... »

Moments That Matter: topic 1: know your camera Having a go with different settings on my camera. Beach setting for dog running along by the water – love the way you can see the bubbles in the tide coming in & the way the dog is looking straight ahead. Landscape setting for two tree photos. Really liked the shape of the cabbage tree, but not sure that I have got what I was picturing in my... »

Distractions and Exposure Issues

Distractions and Exposure Issues

Moments That Matter: lesson 8: topic 3: the rest Image 1 – I’d love to know how to get rid of the distractions in the background. I’m using Pikmonkey but the basic version. When I watched the tutorials you needed the royale upgrade to remove the distractions. Can I remove with basic pikmonkey? Image 2 – Ignatius is a little too overexposed, the surrounds are too dark in com... »

Editing Pops

Editing Pops

Moments That Matter: lesson 8: topic 2: the basics Prior to editing, these two pics I watched and read all the tutorials you recommended. Oh wow did I learn some quicker tricks than I was doing, but slowly my eye started seeing the differences between pre-edit and after. More obvious edits I was of course aware but the exposure, colours and sharpness after watching several tuts I could really see ... »

Stories in Images & Collages

Stories in Images & Collages

Moments That Matter: lesson 7: topic 1: storytelling Once I thought about the concept behind this I got rather excited. There is a difference between photos that tell a story and ones that don’t.. I love the concept of striving to tell a story. Image 1 – Siena loving swing time with her brothers at whom she is loving at outside of the frame taken at sunset Image 2 – A Saturday mo... »

Lifestyle – Harder Than I Expected

Lifestyle – Harder Than I Expected

Moments That Matter: lesson 6: topic 2: think lifestyle I was really excited about reaching the Lifestyle lesson eager to put into practice all I had learnt, and then I found problems. Mostly lighting is my issue, many of the children’s lifestyle activities either take place indoors or they are moving..a lot. Now I’ll sound like I’m making excuses but for the first time I’m... »
